Mr. Spears has been with the firm since 2001.  He was born in Sarasota, Florida, on July 29, 1975.  

Mr. Spears graduated from the University of South Florida in 1997 with a BA in Criminology.  He later attended the Florida State University College of Law, where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2001.  He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2001.  In 2002, he was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.  Mr. Spears is also Board Certified in the area of workers’ compensation law.

A significant portion of Mr. Spears practice includes representing employers, governmental entities, carries and third-party administrators in workers compensation claims. He has significant experience handling cases involving firefighters and correctional officers that are pursued under the statutory presumptions found in Section 112.18 and 112.181, Florida Statutes.  Mr. Spears also represents carriers and their insureds in the defense of personal injury, wrongful death, products liability and insurance related litigation throughout the State of Florida. He has handled numerous trials throughout the State of Florida and has participated in all aspects of the appellate process, including preparing briefs and presenting oral argument before the First District Court of Appeal.  

Mr. Spears is a Member of the Workers Compensation and Young Lawyers Sections of the Florida Bar, Orange County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute (DRI).
